Tough Week

Hey all,

I was unable to finish a book this week. I am about halfway through. Hopefully will wrap it up in the next few days.

Read more and prosper.

Nikola Tesla: Imagination and the Man That Invented the 20th Century by Sean Patrick

I'm not really sure why I decided to read this book... maybe partly because it was free through Kindle, and partly because I haven't read a biography in a while.

I liked the book. It was interesting to hear about all the adversity that he went through. Many times he had several high powered men against him. Thomas Edison and his progress with Direct Current thought that Tesla's progress with Alternating Current was futile.Edison waged an all out war and smear campaign against Tesla. Big financiers like JP Morgan and Rockefeller teamed up with Edison to bring Tesla down. Mr. Westinghouse came along and he and Tesla partnered up to create something wonderful.

Sadie's Song By Linda Hall

Again I found this at my local Goodwill. I was again drawn by the cover art and the title. I read the back and put it back on the shelf. I continued looking at other books and then decided to look at it again. It was a mystery book, something I've been more into lately, and again had the promise of music. For $1.00, why not?

I'm sure glad I did. I LOVED the book. I started reading it at about 9pm last night and finally had to stop at mid-night. I finished the rest of the book on my lunch hour. It was a quick read, but it didn't leave me lacking anything. It's a Christian book, something I wasn't aware of but was pleasantly surprised by. Sadie, wife of Troy and the mother of 5 kids finds out that Ally, a local 9 year old girl goes missing. With a murder of another young girl only a few months before, Ally's disappearance has everyone on edge. Could Troy have anything to do with it? Or maybe Ally's own parents?

One of the things I loved most about the book, is that Sadie wrestles with her faith. She questions God, questions her husband, and herself. It shows a good depth of human emotion and how we can sometimes deceive ourselves into a different reality than is actually there.

Sadie's Song grips your heart from the very beginning and doesn't let go.
